Grief, the sophomore release by Farwest Mandolinistic Orchestra occupies a stark emotional territory, shaped by prepared piano, custom electric mandolin, live electronics and slow-burning drones. The artwork responds to this atmosphere as a physical extension of the sound: restrained, heavy, and intentionally quiet.
The packaging design is built exclusively on black ink tonal variations, allowing absence, tension and silence to lead. Minimal, weight-driven typography anchors the composition without ornament, reinforcing the album’s emotional gravity. Inside, a monotype print introduces texture and imperfection, translating mourning into a tactile, intimate experience that mirrors the record’s meditative landscape.
